Top 12 Songs That Made Me Happy in 2015

Music never fails to work magic on me, but this was a really cool year for music. It was about simultaneously looking back at music I’ve loved for 20-plus years, and looking forward to the bright future of music.

This is actually the opposite of what this blog is supposed to be about. It’s supposed to be: a random song comes up on shuffle and it reminds me of something; my shuffled life. This song couldn’t have been played any less randomly. But it speaks to the power of music and how it works in my brain.

When my grandfather died, of a stroke at age 88, I was obsessed with this song and the album it came from, Carnavas. It was Silversun Pickups’ full-length debut and it rocked my world.
